i) Cannizaro reaction : Aldehydes which do not have an α hydrogen atom, undergo self oxidation and reduction (disproportionation) reaction on heating with concentrated alkali. it
is called cannizaro reaction

ii) Acetylation : The replacement of active hydrogen of alcohols, phenol, amines (or) benzene with acetyl group (CH₃CO) is called acetylation. It is carried out with acetyl ohloride or acetic anhydride.
