T.S. of monocot leaf exhibit three parts they are
1) Epidermis 2) Mesophyll 3) Vascular system
1) Epidermis :
* Epidermis is differentiate into adaxial epidermis (upper surface) and abaxial surface (lower epidermis).
* It is covered with cuticle to reduce transpiration.
* Stomata are equally distributed both surfaces.
* In grasses along the veins large, empty colourless cells called bulliform cells or motor cells are present.
* Bulliform cells helps in rolling and unrolling of leaf and helps in minimising water loss.
2. Mesophyll :
* Mesophyll is not differentiate into palisade and spongy parenchyma. So it is called Isobilateral.
* If contain either palisade or spongy parenchyma but not both.
3. Vascular system :
* It consists of similar size of vascular bundle (except in main veins).
* Vascular bundles are conjoint collateral and closed type.
* Xylem location is towards adaxial surface and phloem location is toward abaxial surface.
