Detailed Solution

Poverty Reduction is the result of the various anti-poverty programs run by the government.
Some anti-poverty programmes in India are Wage Employment Programmes, the National Rural Employment Programme (NREP) and Rural Landless Employment Guarantee Programme (RLEGP) were started in the Sixth and Seventh Plans. The NREP and RLEGP were merged in April 1989 under Jawahar Rozgar Yojana (JRY). The current anti-poverty strategy of the government is majorly based on two planks. Primarily the promotion of economic growth and targeted anti-poverty programs. Official poverty estimates remained around 45 per cent from the early 1950s until the 1980s. The government is majorly focused on economic growth, which widens opportunities and provides the sources needed to invest in human development. Economic growth and poverty are interconnected and go hand in hand. There is a wide per capita difference in the early years but not much of a poverty reduction.
