Describe the ways in which eddy currents are used to advantage.

1) Magnetic breaking trains : In electric trains, electromagnets are placed above the rails, when they are activated eddy currents are induced in the rails oppose the motion of train
2) Electromagnetic damping : When the coil of galvanometer oscillates, the eddy currents in the core opposes the motion and bring the coil to rest.
3) Induction furnace : It is used to produce high temperatures and can be utilized to melt the metals for preparing alloys.
4) Electric power meters : The shiny metal disc in electric power meter rotates due to eddy currents, then electric power can be measured.
