Dhangar flocks grazed on the fields' waste and stubble. In the past, Dhangars worked as pastoralists, shepherds, and blanket weavers. They moved through an open space with their livestock to let them graze freely. They are always searching for good pasture land where they might find good grass. They moved to the Konkan region from Maharashtra in the monsoon and summer to get enough space for grazing. The landowners gave Dhangar permission to let their cattle graze in their fields. They do this because they get animal manure in their areas, and the Konkanese farmer also provides the Dhangars with rice.
