Dhangars resided in the central plateau of Maharashtra. The pastoral community of Maharashtra are the Dhangars. They are renowned for their cyclic relocation from the dry central plateau of Maharashtra to the wet area of Konkan. A significant number of them are shepherds, weavers and bison herders. They live on the dry plateau during the rainstorm season and develop bajra crops. After the stormy, rainy season finishes, they collect the bajra and begin their excursion toward the west. It takes them about a month to arrive at Konkan. It is generally a joy for the Konkani nation to invite Dhangars.
