Detailed Solution

Robert Brown discovered the cell nucleus in 1831, not the living cells themselves. While studying orchid cells, he noticed a small, round, and dense structure inside them, which he named the “nucleus.” The discovery of living cells was made earlier by Antonie van Leeuwenhoek in 1674, when he observed tiny, living organisms in pond water using his microscope.
