The movement of solvent from a region of lower concentrated solution to a region of higher concentrated solution through semipermeable membrane is called osmosis. It requires semi-permeable membrane. It occurs in liquids.	The movement of ions or molecules or atoms from a region of their higher concentration to the region of their lower concentration without having any membrane is called diffusion. It does not require semi-permeable membrane It occurs in gases, liquids and solids.
