Detailed Solution

DMK stands for Dravida Munnetra Kazgham.
It is a Tamil Nadu-based political party. It was formed in 1949, following the split of the All India Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam which was headed by EV Ramasami Naicker. The party believes in secularism and promotes Tamil Nationalism and Dravidian identity. It was one of the parties which led the movement against the imposition of Hindi as the only official language of the country. It also protested against the supposed exploitation of the South by North India. This led to several clashes between them and the Central government.
