Detailed Solution

Molality does not depend on temperature because it is defined as the number of moles of solute per kilogram of solvent, and mass does not change with temperature under normal conditions. In contrast, molarity (which depends on the volume of the solution) is temperature-dependent, since a solution’s volume changes when temperature rises or falls—volume increases as temperature increases, causing molarity to decrease.

Molality is therefore preferred in experiments and calculations where temperature variations are expected, as it remains constant regardless of temperature changes. This is why you will often see molality used for colligative properties and other temperature-sensitive phenomena in chemistry.
