Dolphin’s Nose Hill is on the northern side of Visakhapatnam. The major port in Andhra Pradesh, the Visakhapatnam port, is the third-largest port in India in terms of cargo handled. To the north of the entrance, the port has Dolphin hill, protecting it from cyclonic storms and winds. The largest port on the eastern coast, this port is one of the thirteen major ports in India. The port was commissioned in 1933 and managed by the Visakhapatnam port trust. It is a state-owned port under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways of the Government of India. The port has a fishing harbour. Iron ore, coal, crude oil, and manganese are exchanged through this port apart from cargo.
