Double fertilisation includes syngamy and triple fusion. Syngamy is fusion of one of the male gametes of pollen tube with the egg cell to form diploid zygote. It is also known as zygotic fertilisation. Zygote develops into
embryo of seed. Fusion of second male gamete with the two polar nuclei of central cell of embryo sac is called triple fusion or vegetative fertilisation. It forms triploid primary endosperm nucleus, from which the nutritive tissue endosperm is formed.
