Detailed Solution

During a sale, pencils were being sold in packs of 24 each and crayons in packs of 32 each. If I want the same number of pencils and crayons, then I’ll buy 4 packs of pencils and 3 packs of crayons.
Given data,
The pencils were being sold in packs of 24 each and crayons in packs of 32.
The prime factor of pencils and crayons are,
32=2×2×2×2×2
24=2×2×2×3
Thus,
LCM = 2×2×2×2×2×3   LCM = 96
We know, there are 24 pencils in 1 pack.
Let the required number of packs be ‘x’.
To get 96 pencils,
x × 24 pencils = 96 pencils
x=9624
x=4 packs
Therefore, the required packs of pencils is 4.
