During hot weather, the Gujjars usually drive their herds to the upper range. The Gaddis have herds of sheep and goats, whereas the Gujjars have buffaloes as their riches. These folks live on the outskirts of the woodlands and rely solely on selling their cows' milk, ghee, and other products. The guys would graze the cattle and frequently sleep out in the woods for weeks, caring for their herds. The ladies would walk to the marketplaces every morning with baskets on their heads.
