Detailed Solution

During the middle of the 19th century, Italy was divided into seven states, of which Southern Italy was ruled by an Italian Princely House.
Italy was split into seven kingdoms, each ruled by a separate empire. Only one of these states, Sardinia Piedmont, was controlled by an Italian prince named Count Camillo De Cavour. In 1848, Count Cavour was named chief minister of Sardinia, and in 1852, he was named Prime Minister. Three main princely groups controlled Italy. The Austrian-Hungarian Empire reigned in the north, the Pope ruled in the middle, and the Bourbon Kings controlled the south. The Bourbon Kings governed in the south of Italy, including the Two Sicilies Islands.
