Detailed Solution

During the period of industrialisation 9.3 % of the world’s total area was cleared for industrial uses. The industrial revolution was started in eighteenth-century England. It created a worldwide demand for raw materials for industries in Europe. Shipbuilding, railways, factories, etc. required timber to a great extent. The forests were cleared for timber extraction. Moreover, forests were cleared for expanding the agricultural area for food grains and revenue. The trees of one kind were planted known as the plantation for industrial uses. The forests of diverse fauna were also cleared as they were considered invaluable.  Between 1700 and 1995, about 9.3% of forests were cleared around the world for industrial uses, pastures, cultivation, and fuelwood.
