In Russia during the Russian Revolution Vladimir Lenin led the Bolshevik group. A socialist leader, Lenin was against the rule of the autocratic rule of the Tsar. Lenin put forward three demands which came to be known as Lenin's April Theses. He demanded that the war should come to an end, that lands should be transferred to the poor peasants, and that the banks be nationalised. Lenin was against the Provisional Government which was ruled by landlords, industrialists and army officers. It was under the leadership of Lenin that the Provisional Government of the Soviet was overthrown and the foundation of the Communist state was laid.
