It is given that each of the 10 kids received four candies.
We know that two variables are said to be inversely proportional if and only if they are directly proportional to one another's reciprocal. If x and y are two variables in inverse variations, then
    x 1 y x=k 1 y x= k y ,        where k is proportianality constant xy=k                                                   ....(1) Since each of the 10 kids received four candies.
Therefore, total number of candies = 10×4=40. Also, it is given that the same packet of candies were distributed among 8 kids.
Therefore, 40 candies were distributed among 8 kids.
So, each kid will receive 40 8  = 5 candies. Thus, if candies were distributed among 8 kids, then each kid would get 5 candies.
Hence, option (2) is correct.
