In the healthy functioning of democracy, the Panchayati Raj system plays a vital role. It helps democracy to achieve decision-making and policy-making at the grassroots level. There are Three Levels of Panchayatsssi Raj Institutions in India, followed by many states. Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti, and Zila Parishad. Each village is divided into many wards. All village people who have attained the age of 18 years are eligible to vote in the election of panch and sarpanch. A Panch is also known as a ward member. A ward member has the right to participate in the gramme sabha meetings and put effort into the decision-making and development of the village.
