Electron was discovered by J.J Thomson.
Atom is made of 3 subatomic particles electrons, protons and neutrons.  Electrons have no known components or substructure. The charge on an electron is -1. J.J.Thomson was a British physicist who first discovered the electron in  1897. It is the first subatomic particle discovered. He showed that cathode rays contain unknown charged particles in them and he found out that it has a smaller body than an atom. It contains a large charge to mass ratio.
