Detailed Solution

Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were used throughout the country in the year 2004.
In 1999, the general election for the Goa assembly saw the first usage of electronic voting machines. Encouraged by the use of EVMs in all states and by-elections in 2003, the Election Commission decided to use them exclusively for the Lok Sabha elections in 2004. EVMs were used exclusively to conduct the Lok Sabha elections in 2004.
