Detailed Solution

Embankments were made to prevent Floods.
The Cholas rule was built to prevent water overflow from canals and flooding in the delta region. Water supply to the fields was done through the water canals. Water tanks and canals with sluice gates were built to control the flow of the channel's water. Forests were cut down, the land was levelled, and embankments were built to avoid flooding. There were large tanks used to be dug and constructed to store rainwater.
