In Epigynous flowers thalamus is deep cup shaped. Gynoecium (Ovary) is surrounded by thalamus and all other floral whorls arise, above the ovary. The position of ovary is inferior. Ovary wall  and thalamus are completely fused. Epigynous is more evolved than hypogyny and perigyny. Ex: - Cucurbita, Psidium, Ray florets of sunflower flower.
