Equivalent resistance that can not be obtained by the combination of three resistance of four ohms each is  6Ω. For resistances in series (Say  R1,R2  R3) the final value, X=(R1+R2+R#)Ohms.
For parallel connection, the formula is  1X=( 1R1+1R2+1R# ).
There can be 4 alternatives-
1. All three Resistances (R, S & T) in series, and the value would be (R1+R2+R3)=12 Ohms.

 1X=912=34
 X=43=1.33 ohm
3. Two resistances  (R!+R3) in series and a third (R2)in parallel to them.

Rf= 4+4
Rf=8
1R'=1RF+1R3
1R' = 18+14
1R' =1+28
1R' =83
1R' =2.667
The final value would be two resistors in series and one in parallel = 2.67 Ohms
4. Two Resistances(R+S)in parallel, in series with the third(T).
1R'=1R0+1R1
1R'=14+14
1R'=1+14
1R'=24
R'=2
2+4=6
The final value would be two resistors in series and one in parallel = 6 Ohms
