"Evenings full of the linnet’s wings” what do these words mean?

A bird similar to a finch is called a linnet. It is therefore rather small. When someone says, "The evening is full of linnet's wings," we don't just picture one bird; we picture all of the birds flying. The imagery is beginning to resemble a dream: purple, foggy, and filled with flying birds.
