Detailed Solution

Newton's third law of motion states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Force on a body 2 applied by the body 1 (F21) is equal and opposite to the force on body 1 applied by the body 2 (F12), i.e.

F21=F12

If object A applies force F to another object B, object B applies force "-F" to A. Therefore, the force applied to B by A and the force applied to A by B are equal, but in opposite directions. There is an equally opposite reaction to every action. This statement means that for each interaction, two forces act on the two interacting objects. This is Newton's third law of motion. Therefore, the correct answer is option (C).
