Every adult in the village who is 18 years of age constitutes the Gram Sabha.
As per the Panchayati Raj System, there are three tiers of government for rural areas of India. At the village level, the Gram Panchayat is elected. However, in order to support its work, there is yet another institution by the name of Gram Sabha. Every adult in the village becomes a member of this Sabha, by default. It can meet to discuss various issues that are faced by the population of the village. It can easily guide the Gram Panchayat on which projects should be given preference.
