* The system of providing the scientific name with two components is called Binomial nomenclature.
* According to this system each scientific name has two components. They are:
1) Generic name
2) Specific name
* Generic name begins with capital letter. Specific name begins with small letter.
* Binomial nomenclature was introduced by Gaspard bauhin and popularised by Carolus von Linnaeus.
Eg: Scientific name of mango is Mangifera indica. Mangifera represents genus name and indica represents species name.
