  • It consists of Haversian canal that runs parallel to the marrow cavity of bone.
  • It has contain an artery, a vein and a lymphatic vessel.
  • Small fluid filled space called “lacunae” provided with minute canaliculi lie in between the lamella.
  • Canaliculi connect the lacunae with one another.
  • Each lacuna encloses one osteocyte.
  • The Haversian canals communicate with one another with the periosteum and also with he marrow cavity by transverse canal is called Volkmann’s canal.
  • Nutrients and gases diffuse through Haversian canal.
