Variations in the species are brought out by changes occurring in the environment; a species' ability to adapt to the changing environment around it is due to the creation of variations. As a result, the species can survive in a changing environment is enhanced. For example, the accumulation of heat-resistant variation in some bacteria ensures that they will survive even if the temperature in their environment rises too high due to a heatwave or other factors. The bacteria that didn’t have this variation in their ability to withstand heat, on the other hand, would not survive in these conditions and it may die.
