Detailed Solution

Statement : “When light is allowed to fall on the metallic surface, electrons are ejected from the surface”. This effect is known as photo electric effect it is represented as follows
 i.e., E==W0+K.E
Where  hข = Energy of incident photon
W0 = work function = h ϑ0
KE = Kinetic Energy=12mv2
The equation (1) becomes
=0+KE( or )=0+12mv2
KE=0
K.E=hϑϑ0
The photo electric effect is readily given by alkalimetals like K, Rb, CS.
