a) Structure of XeF₂:
In the formation of XeF₂. Xe undergoes SP³d hybridization in first excited state. Shape is linear due to the presence of 3 lone pairs.

b) Structure of XeF₄:
In the formation of XeF4, Xe undergoes SP³d²hybridisation in second excited state.
Shape is square planar due to the presence of 2 lone pairs.
