Explain the term rigidity, compressibility, and fluidity

Rigidity means being hard and difficult to change shape, compressibility means the ability to reduce volume by applying pressure, and fluidity means the ability to flow easily.

These three terms are used to describe the physical properties of matter. Solids, liquids, and gases show different levels of rigidity, compressibility, and fluidity. By comparing them, we can understand how matter behaves in different states.

• Rigidity – Property of matter to resist shape change. Example: A wooden block is rigid.
• Compressibility – Property of matter to reduce volume under pressure. Example: Gases are highly compressible.
• Fluidity – Ability of matter to flow. Example: Water and air are fluid.

Thus, rigidity, compressibility, and fluidity help in distinguishing the states of matter.
