Detailed Solution

(i) Using splitting method, split the middle term as follows:

 =12x2-7x+1 =12x2-4x-3x+1

Splitting the term in such a way that the product of two constants must be equal to coefficient of x2, i.e. -4×-3=12 and the sum of two constants must be equal to coefficient of x, i.e. -4+-3=-7

Hence, we get:

 =4x3x-1-13x-1 =4x-13x-1

(ii) Using splitting method, split the middle term as follows:

 =2x2+7x+3 =2x2+6x+x+3

Splitting the term in such a way that the product of two constants must be equal to coefficient of x2, i.e. 6×1=6 and the sum of two constants must be equal to coefficient of x, i.e. 6+1=7

Hence, we get:

 =2xx+3+1x+3 =2x+1x+3
