Farmers of States Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh were the first ones to try out the modern farming methods in India. This led to a significant increase in agricultural production. This was due to the adoption of modern farming methods or new agricultural strategies and this was termed the Green Revolution. In the green revolution, new technology with HYV seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, etc is used and more irrigation is required whereas in traditional methods of agriculture less irrigation was required and farmers used cow dung as manure.
