Concept: In order to answer these kinds of questions, we assume that the subject's age will be

. We may use the supplied condition in the word problem to our advantage, turn it into an equation, and then solve for x. These equations could take a linear or nonlinear turn. The answers to these equations will correspond to the ages of the individuals in the problem.
Given, the father is aged three times more than his son Ronit. Then present age of Father will be 3x
After 8 years, he would be two and half times Ronit's age.
Thus after 8 years, the age of Ronit is x+8
and Ronit’s father is 3x+8
Then,

\Rightarrow 3 x + 8 = 2.5 (x + 8)

\Rightarrow 3 x + 8 = 2.5 x + 20

\Rightarrow 3 x - 2.5 x = 20 - 8

\Rightarrow 0.5 x = 12

Thus x=24 Years.
Thus Ronit age is 24
and his father age is given by

\Rightarrow 3 x = 3 \times 24 = 72

Years.
After 8
years Ronit age will be

24 + 8 = 32

Years.
His father’s age is

72 + 8 = 80

Years.
Now the ratio of father age to Ronit age

\frac{80}{32} = 2.5 years
