Fe₂O₃ which is a basic oxide reacts with HCl which is a strong inorganic acid to form FeCl₃ (X)which is a yellow coloured solid and soluble in water. This is an example of neutralisation reaction where a metallic oxide (base) reacts with acid to form salt (FeCl₃) and water.

 FeCl₃ is a deliquescent salt and easily absorbs moisture from air until it forms a solution.
