Figure  shows a circuit designed to control a lamp. For what positions of the switches ${\mathrm{S}}_1 \mathrm{and} {\mathrm{S}}_2$ will the lamp be lit?

When output of NAND gate is low (i.e. 0), then current will flow through bulb to lit it up. This will happen when  both switches are open. In this case +5V (or high logic) will appear at input of NAND gate and so its output will be low (i.e. 0).
