Detailed Solution

Rubber is an equatorial crop, but it is also grown in tropical and subtropical areas under special conditions. Rubber is an industrial raw material and non-food crop as it is extracted from latex hevea types of trees in the equatorial region. Rubber is produced in various states of India, such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Meghalaya. The favourable conditions for rubber production require 25 degrees Celsius temperature and between 200 - 400 cm of rain with laterite soil. The country’s production meets about 97 per cent of the country’s need for rubber.
