Detailed Solution

India is the second largest producer of rice in the world. India produces rice extensively to meet domestic demands and to export the rice to countries like Saudi Arabia, the UK, the USA, Brazil, etc. Rice is a Kharif crop as it is harvested in the monsoon season. Kharif is an Arabic word which means ‘autumn’. The most commonly used crop of the Kharif season is rice, which is extracted from the main crop, ‘Paddy’. The three types of rice are Aus, Aman and Boro. West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab and Haryana are the states where rice is produced in the most quantity. The conditions favourable for rice production are that the temperature should be above 25 degrees Celsius, rain required at least 100 cm, and plenty of labour.
