Forest soil is found in hilly or mountainous terrain.
These soils are generally heterogeneous, and their texture varies with altitude and hilly terrain. The valley sides are loamy and silty, whereas the upper slopes are coarse-grained. These soils are acidic and have little humus content in the snow-covered parts of the Himalayas. The Forest soils are particularly suited to cultivating tea, coffee, spices, and tropical fruits.
