Detailed Solution

Pir Panjal forms the longest and the most important range of Himachal. The Himalayas are divided into Great Himalayas, Middle Himalayas, and the Shiwalik range, which is the southernmost range. The northernmost part is the Great Himalayas or Himadri. Himachal, or Middle Himalaya, lies south of Himadri. The relief of Himachal is much rugged and has several hill stations like the Kulu valley and Shimla. It has a few sub-ranges: Pir Panjal, Mahabharat, and Dhauladhar. The Pir Panjal range is in the northern part of India, in the disputed Kashmir region. Banihal pass provides the link between the Kashmir valley and the Indian plains. It makes the valley accessible even during winters when snow blocks the roadways.
