The peninsular plateau is composed of igneous and metamorphic rocks. The Peninsular Plateau is one of the world's oldest landforms. It is said to have formed due to plate tectonics from Gondwanaland's huge landmass. Triangular in shape, the plateau has its tip at Kanyakumari. The plateau covers Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. It is made up of crystalline metamorphic and igneous rocks. The Vindhya, Satpura, and Aravalli ranges surround the peninsular plateau. Metamorphic rocks are formed when changes happen to an existing rock due to changes in environmental conditions like temperature and pressure. The solidification of molten magma forms igneous rocks.
