The Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly was headed by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
Dr BR Ambedkar was the chairman of the drafting committee of the constituent assembly that consisted of seven other members. The drafting committee was formed on August 29, 1947. It was the most important committee among all the committees. It was entrusted with the task of preparing a draft of the new Constitution. The first draft of the Constitution of India was prepared and published in February 1948. The citizens were given eight months to discuss the draft of the Constitution and propose the amendments they thought were needed.
