Detailed Solution

The East India Company appointed a paid servant called the Gomasthas to supervise weavers. Gomasthas were paid retainers or agents appointed by the East India company. Their occupation was to regulate the needlewomen, gather inventories, and to look at the nature of material. In other words, their work was to subscribe to bonds, generally compellingly, by original needlewomen and craft persons to deliver goods to the Company. The gomasthas were rejected and had no social connection with municipalities. The needlewomen were given loans to buy the raw accoutrements and were set to supply it the gumasta only. Gomasthas acted arrogantly and frequently beat them for detention in force. Those goods were exported by the Company to Europe.
