Detailed Solution

There are mainly four types of coals in India. They are lignite, peat, bituminous, and anthracite. Lignite can be found at Neyveli in Tamil Nadu. Gondwana coalfields are there in Damodar valley in India. Damodar valley is spread over West Bengal and Jharkhand. Jharia, Raniganj, and Bokaro are the places in Damodar valley where this Gondwana coal is found. It is the bituminous coal that is obtained from the Gondwana coal mainly. Along with the Damodar river valley, in the Godavari, Son, Wardha, and Mahanadi river valleys also, bituminous can be found. It is in the north-eastern states like Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya of India, we see the deposition of tertiary coal highly.
