Given st. line cut equal non-zero intercepts on co-ordinate axes (i.e. a = b)
$\mathrm{From}\left(1\right) \frac{\mathrm{x}}{\mathrm{b}}+\frac{\mathrm{y}}{\mathrm{b}}=1$
$\mathrm{x}+\mathrm{y}=\mathrm{b} ...\left(2\right)$
eq’n (2) passing through (–4, 5)
$\therefore \mathrm{b}=1 (\because -4+5=\mathrm{b})$
$\therefore \text{ The equation of}\text{s required straightline is }\mathrm{x}+\mathrm{y}=1$
