Find the midpoint of a line whose endpoints are (2, 3) and (4, 7).

Suppose (x, y) the mid-point of the line joins the points (x_1, y₁) and (x_2, y₂) 

Then, $\mathrm{x}=\frac{{\mathrm{x}}_1+{\mathrm{x}}_2}{2}, \mathrm{y}=\frac{{\mathrm{y}}_1+{\mathrm{y}}_2}{2}$

By comparing the above points: ${\mathrm{x}}_1=2,{\mathrm{y}}_1=3,{\mathrm{x}}_2=4,{\mathrm{y}}_2=7$

So $\mathrm{x}=\frac{2+4}{2}=\frac{6}{2}=3$

and $\mathrm{y}=\frac{3+7}{2}=\frac{10}{2}=5$

So the mid-point is (3, 5).
