 4x7y+28=0       — (i)

 7x+5y+9=0     — (ii)

The form of the equations is

a1x+b1y+c1=0, a2x+b2y+c2=0

By cross multiplication method, we know that

x(b1c2b2c1)= y(c1a2c2a1) = 1(a1b2a2b1)

Now, substituting the value of a, b and c from equation (i) and (ii)

 x{(7)×95×28}=y{28×(7)9×4}=1{4×5(7)×(7)}

 x63140=y19636=12049

 x203=y232=129

 x203=129

 29x=203

 x=7

And,

 y232=129

 29y=232

 y=8

Hence, the required value of x is 7 and y is 8.
