Given ,

\frac{x}{3} + \frac{y}{4} = 4; \frac{5 x}{6} - \frac{y}{8} = 4

.
Rewriting the given equations, we get,

4 x + 3 y = 48

…….(1)

20 x - 3 y = 96

…….(2)
Adding (1) and (2), we get,

24 x = 144

\Rightarrow x = 6

Putting

x = 6

in (1), we get,

4 (6) + 3 y = 48

\Rightarrow y = 8

∴ x = 6, y = 8

Therefore, option (3) is correct.
